Know all Men by these Presents, That We John Manell [sic]
and James Ilkins of Westbury in ye County of Wilts are held and firmly bound unto the Reverend John Ealman Clerk Master of Acts Officiall of the Chantor of Sarum in the sume of One Hundred pounds of good and lawful Money of Great-Britain; To be paid unto the Said Officiall or his successors or to his certain Attorney, his Executors, Administrators, or Assignes : To which Payment, well and truly to be made, We oblige ourselves ; and each of us by himself for the whole our and every of our Heirs, Executors, and Administrators, firmly by these Presents, Sealed with our Seals. Dated the Eleventh Day of May in the [blank] year of the Reign of our Sovereign L George by the Grace of God of Great-Britain, France, and Ireland, King Defender of the Faith and so forth: And in the Year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and Thirty Seven
The Condition of the above-written Obligation is such, That if there shall not hereafter appear any lawful Let or Impediment, by reason of any Pre- Contract, Consanguinity, Affinity, or any other just Cause whatsoever ; but that John Mancell and Mary Ilkins of Westbury in the County of Wilts,
may lawfully marry together : And that there is not any Suit depending before any Judge Ecclesiastical or Civil, for, or concerning any such Pre-Contract : And that the Consent of the Parents or, others the Governors of the said Parties, be thereunto first had and obtained; And that they cause their said Marriage to be openly solemnized in the Face of the Parish Church of Westbury Bratton or Dilton between the Hours of Eight and Twelve of the Clock in the Forenoon; And do and shall save harmless and keep indemnified the above-nam'd Officiall
his Surrogates and all others his Officers, and Successors in Office, for, and
concerning the Premises:
Then the said Obligation to be void; or else to be and remain in full Force and Virtue.

I James Elkins of Westbury in the County of Wilts Clothworker do hereby revoke all former Wills by me made and do declare my last will and Testament to be as followeth that is to say First to my Sister Edith Slug I give ten shillings Item to my Neices [sic] Elianor Elkins and Mary the wife of John Mansell I give half a Crown apiece Item to M? Samuel Gibbs of Westbury aforesaid I give five pounds In trust nevertheless for John Smith my apprentice and to be applied in the replacing him forth apprentice Item to the said M? Gibbs I give Forty shillings In trust for my nephew William Elkins to be applied towards placing him out apprentice And I will that all the said Legacies shall be payd Immediately after my decease Item I forgive my nephew Richard Slug all such money as he shall owe to me at the time of my decease Except the money due on his note of hand Lastly all the Residue of my Goods Chattels and personal Estate I give to my wife and do nominate her sole Executrix hereof In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal the Seventeenth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hudred and thirty eight.
