Data
- Ancestry.co.uk, particularly for census and parish records (although beware that if you buy credits they do not warn you if you have credits which are about to expire.)
- findmypast.co.uk, particularly the facility to search the censuses by street address.
- 1911 census.co.uk
- FamilySearch.org
- Sussex Family History Group Data Archilve. A treasure-trove for parish records, including many records not listed by FamilySearch.org.
- FreeBMD. Absolutely invaluable for getting GRO index references
Ordering Records
- GRO Certificate Ordering Service. Extortionately priced (I don't expect the taxpayer to fund my hobby, but it can't cost that much to print off a microfilm!), but still cheaper to go direct than pay the fees advertised online by some 'middlemen'.
- Hertfordshire Names Online
- London Metropolitan Archive's form for ordering microfilm prints of parish records (you need to be able to provide the exact details).
